Monitor and TV in 'duplicate' mode - any GPU strain or fine?

Hi all,

I've just connected my TV up via HDMI as I'm sick of using the Xbox to stream stuff as its jumpy and isn't as good quality as direct from my PC. I've got my monitor hooked up still through the DVI port.

Does running the screens in 'duplicate' mode strain the graphics card more and it's better to tell te computer which screen to turn off or am I ok just leaving it and turning the monitor off if we're watching the TV and turning the TV off if I'm using the monitor?

just find it a faff on using the computers settings to turning the monitor off just to watch something on the TV for a bit then swapping them back round in te CCC.

I'm guessing 'duplicate' mode is ok seen as people run more than 1 monitor but thought I'd check as never done this and don't want to damage my card/s.

Thanks!

Any modern graphic card, even budget level 5450/6450 should easily manage a second screen with no worries, whether you use duplicate mode or extended mode, at least for TV use.

If you want to swap them round quickly though, you can create presets in CCC, and assign hotkeys, then just press those hotkeys to switch on the fly.
