Hello,

Noticed a strange fault with my BX2s or my Pioneer SA770 this morning.

For a bit of background they (the former) are just over a year old now, whilst I've had the latter for 5 years and my Uncle had them for another 27 years before that, both have been utterly fautless.

Back to the issue, whilst both speakers are playing audio, the R speaker is significantly quieter than the L. I have checked all connections to my amp, checked my banana plugs, checked my dac's connection to the PC and amp... I can't see any problems. The headphone out on the amp still plays audio equally through both cups of my 'phones.

I know its really not a lot to go on, but does anyone have any ideas, or any suggestions as to what to check?

Thanks in advance,
Cookeh

Well, swapped inputs round (got a bluetooth receiver I rarely use, so swapped that with rca-in from my DAC) and now both speakers are playing at an equal volume.

Which suggests the issue is with one of the inputs on the amp - any idea how to find the fault or what the fault could be?

Given that the Pioneer amp is almost 35 years old based on what you've said then I would agree that it is most likely an amp issue or something related to it as opposed to the speakers.

The best thing you can do is simplify everything and then use substitution to rule out external factors (poor cabling, source settings etc) and narrow it down to whether it affects only a single input or all of them. It sounds as if you have already made a start on that.
