I have calibrated my monitor by taking a picture of it with a red car on the screen on the camera and playing with the settings via the remote untill it looks the same... pretty basic but much better.

problem is now everything looks undersaturated, but as photos do when they come out on film.

any ideas what to do, is this what the mode settings on the monitors remote are for ?

thanks.

You're doing it wrong (like, way wrong maaaaaaaaaan!).

Proper calibration is done by use of a colorimeter such as an EyeOneDisplay2 or at the basic end of the scale a Spyder2/3 probe.

Visually calibrating your way or any other way will not optimise the luminance to black point balance.
