No monitor is ever going to be calibrated out the box and there's a simple reason for that! it's because calibration has to be done at the user end because a few variables affect the calibration process from monitor panel characteristics to graphics card used and graphics drivers used.

Point taken, but i have had tones of monitors before and have never seen such bad results out of box. I understand that if you totally anal about colours then yes, go ahead and spend hours getting colors etc 'just right', but i do not think that an end user should have to faff about with calibration to drastically improve something that should have been taken care of in first place.
