Just wanted to get an idea what the general feelings are from everyone on the forum as to whether they'd prefer a curved or flat monitor. Especially interested in hear from those who currently own curved monitors.
I'll be the first to admit I didn't really see any point in a curved TV as you're never sitting in the 'sweet spot' where you'd potentially get benefit from the curve. I had a look at a few TV's today and the curve on them is pretty subtle and not particularly noticeable on movies/tv but I suspect it would be on a windows desktop.
I'm specifically interested in buying a new 34" 21:9 monitor and struggling to decide whether to get a curved or flat model? Price isn't really much of an issue as they all typically range from £700-900-ish in terms of cost so purely want to get the best monitor available for that price.
I'd like to go for an IPS model and I'm happy with 60Hz. I'd also like a large enough monitor with plenty of real estate so that I can replace my dual 1080p monitor setup. I'm worried about windows apps I use not supporting 4k so want something that can run at 100% scaling. I could have grabbed a couple of 16:9 1440p displays but 21:9 seems like a better compromise as dual monitors just means craning my neck at an awkward angle when using one of them.
There are a few threads discussing curved displays on the specific monitor threads but I thought it would be nice to have a separate one for discussing the merits of flat vs curved.
What are everyone's thoughts? Which do you reckon I should buy?
