Hi guys i have a problem which is making me believe my monitor is on its way out after a healthy life span of... 12 months  As you can see on the picture i linked, the writing is kind of smudged accross the screen to the right and gives the text a grainy effect! This is happening on all my games as well and it looks aweful, but the smudging is not burnt into the screen which baffles me a bit?! I have tried resetting, refreshing resolution, changing ratios etc! Please help :(

I thought JPEG compression of text and such gave that sort of effect anyway.
Besides I would've thought taking a printscreen does not show what the monitor shows, but rather what it would show if it worked properly.

So is the smudgy effect there even when you're just web browsing etc.? or is it just playing games?
It's possibly your graphics card rather than the monitor if it's not burned on, but don't quote me on it.

looks fine to me , when i zoomed in it was crystal clear.:D

you should try taking a photo of your screen to show , a printscreen wont show the fault :p

have you tried a different gfx card ??

or even a different vga lead ??

i sometimes get wavy lines whilst gaming , its not the monitor its the kvm switch i use :p

You will need to take a photo of the screen with a camera, we just see the screenprint, and it looks perfect :P (well slight jpeg artifacts, but nothing really bad).

Make sure your running in the native resolution, with a 60hz refresh (some tft offer 70hz, but not all). If your using VGA rather than DVI, then there should be some option for the screen to "Sync" with the graphics card, sometimes and automatic button (or option somewhere in the menus). If the screen's clock is even slightly out of sync with the graphics card it will blur, and generally look rubbish.

If you have a choice of DVI or VGA, preference should always be DVI for better image quality.

Seem to have fixed it! Opened the case up for the first time (system is a year and a half old) and got the ol mini pc vacuum on the job then got the Dyson out and being very careful i cleaned the whole case out. Bloody dust!
