I have been toying with the idea recently of buying a 22"/24" monitor to hook my PS3/360 upto so I can game whilst the missus watches TV.

Does anybody do this here? Am I going to struggle with screen size compared to playing on my 32" TV?

I use 3 iiyama 2407 models on my cockpit with FM3 and upcoming GT5
Decent monitors full 1080p, affordable, include hdmi and work with PS3 as well.

Prices have really come down lots in the last few years.
These are usually about £170 but of course others will be even cheaper.

If you can stretch to something like a 27" that would be better. I found 24" too small for gaming, even from a couple of feet away.

I use my PC monitor for 360/PS3 use, so I'm sat up pretty close to it. Only a 24" but I get more screen for my viewing area than if I were to hook my consoles to my 42" TV and sit on the sofa

Is that what you have? It doesn't list HDMI as a connection.....

As long as it's HDCP (which it says it is, and really required for the PS3) compliant, then you can use a HDMI to DVI adapter (cheap as chips)..

You could also look at this.

I personally use an external £15 3 into 1 HDMI switcher to switch between PC/360 and PS3 all going into the single HDMI on my 'monitor'..

I think it's the E2407HDS that has HDMI, note the slightly different model number.

The B2409HDS would be a good option at 24". Personally I have the B2712HDS :)

Yeah i think mine is the HDS, deffo has hdmi on mine.
Email OcUK to confirm HDMI if interested but think thats the one.

24"- 27" would be nice but thats 3" for approx £100 more.

If you want bigger for about £100 more again over the 27" monitor at about £350-£400 would be 1080p 32" TV price points. Id certainly say youll get even more upgrade for that approx £100 extra over the 27" than you do from the £100 spent in diffrence in 24" - 27" monitors

Additional 5" larger, benifits of a TV in picture and processing, the extra connectivity, the fact its a tv with remote, speakers etc.

Just depends what the person wants to spend.

32" LG 32LH2000 is £299 in supermarkets. Thats what im gonna get soon. Can be hacked to use the USB slot as a media player as well (720p, 1080p mkv support).

I use a 32" TV for PC / Xbox.

Seems to be the perfect size for me, couldn't cope with anything smaller, and i enjoy it better than the 42"

I game on my 2407 and I know a few others that do, I sit very close to it and I've certainly never thought it was too small for my needs, personally I think it's the perfect size for the distance I sit from it.

I use to game on my 2407 but after getting a 32" TV I would never go back. The size difference is so much better. I'd personally get a cheap 32".

This.

IMO 27" is the best solution for combined PC desktop and gaming use. Obviously if you're planning on sitting further than 2-3 feet away, get something bigger (which is why I have a 42" screen for when it suits me).

Edit - I thought you said 27" :o

Bah the B2409HDS (does anyone know if this is HDCP? Looking arounf the net it looks like it is but no mention on OcUk) is on pre-order only. Have to wait it out until OcUK get stock.

Think I will plump for that, I will be sat quiet close to it so I'd imagine for the small amount of time I cannot get on the main TV it will be a good substitute. Will also use my headphones so not worried about speakers.

I will probably be about 1-2 feet away max.

This will not be connected to a PC it's purely for connection to my PS3/360 to equal anytime gaming when the missus wants the TV. :D

This...

I game on a 2408 and find it to be the perfect size, especially for games such as COD and Battlefield multi player.

just wondering those of you who connect their xbox to a monitor....how do you get sound to the speakers ?
can you use hdmi and that other connection at the same time or must the monitor have built in speakers ?
