There are multiple ways depending on whether you use HDMI or VGA. You can plug directly into speakers, directly into monitor speakers, or through your PCs line-in on your soundcard.

I connect my 360 to my 5.1 system using optical.

I use a 24 inch dell with optical and it's the perfect size for the distance I sit. Sometimes I still have to pan my head slightly while watching two different paths of entry on COD.

i use my monitor for ps3, 28inch hanns-g one had it a couple of years hasnt missed a beat. One thing to note though when u sit close to console games most of them look ugly compaired with pc.

you dont have to sit close with 24+ monitors so dont listen to that tbh.

I connect my xbox through line-in on pc at the mo for audio, looking for a better solution though, need something that converts the 2xmale outputs on xbox vga lead to a female 3.5mm for my speakers to plug into.
