Got a bit of a problem.

Mrs has rubbish eye sight, she was using a 19" (17.5 view) CRT running 1024 x 768, we would like to get her a TFT but I am having large amounts off issues with finding one for her.

Ive tried her using 1280 x 1024 on the TFT with 120 DPI and its too hard for her to use, explaining this is about what a 17" TFT would be, and thinking maybe a 19" 5:4 was the way forward but she thinks this would still be too small to read.

Ive tried IE7 with the text up to the largest but that doesn't change all websites.

Any ideas that I am missing?

Laser eye surgery?

Not being rude but if she's having problems looking at a screen then it might be worth looking into new glasses or other measures. Only other thing I can think of is buying an old, non HD flat panel TV to hook up. Will look horrible though and probably not fix anything.

What about using a HD ready TV? Say for example a 26"/32" one. Bigger screen than she's used to, plus the resolution isn't that high = bigger text.

They wont do laser eye surgery, its something her whole family suffer with, and her eye test and new glasses was only done in Dec.

I'll give the old monitor a try if I can find one, the 26/32" are a good idea but she moans about the size of my monitor which is only a 24"

Cheers guys.

Jesus christ, why do people still use lower resolutions to make things bigger? That's going backwards.

On Windows 7:
1. Right click desktop -> Screen Resolution
2. Click "Make text and other items larger or smaller"
3. Choose "Larger - 150%"
4. Hit apply
5. ????
6. Buy glasses

If you don't have Windows 7:
1. Download/Buy Windows 7
2. Follow above instructions

Makes everything pretty well readable, for exceptions there's something called On-Screen Magnifier.

No wonder she loves you :P

Jokes aside, If she is moaning and big monitors then tell her to hush, Its Big with large text or Not at all with that eye vision.

I was blessed with my left eye that cant even focus, so the view is VERY blured and i can make out shapes... But my right is supposedly a lot better then normal vision is and works for both :/

I know how your wife feels and i send a Hug.

Strawberry, bit less aggressive? Shes using XP and if you hadnt read above shes on the glasses she has to be on, and I said I had set the DPI to 120, which is exactly the same as what you mentioned in W7 for text afaik.

Pheonix dancer dont I know it ;) ironically I have good eyesight but terrible hearing... too many concerts over the years I think.
