Hello all,

As my other half keeps hogging the TV with Eastenders, Only Way is Essex and such, I'm looking for a monitor primarily for Xbox 360 gaming.

Either 22/23 or 24" will do, as long as it is no taller than 44CM (the space between my unit top and the TV mounted above it), and I am wanting to connect via HDMI. Budget, anywhere between £150-£250.

I've been researching for the past few days and the one I keep coming back to is the Samsung P2450H, but at the end of the day, I really don't know what is the best about that would be suitable for 360 use at the moment, so if anyone is able to recommend some monitors for me to check out and read up on it would be much appreciated.

Also, regarding the P2450H, the pictures are unclear as to whether the screen can be tilted as the stand appears to be right under the screen... is anyone able to clarify that the stand/screen tilts?

The P2450 would be my suggestion as well, nice bit of kit and should be great for those uses.

Considering your budget, you may want to consider the Dell U2311H (and this HDMI to DVI adapter). This costs a bit more and is slightly smaller - but it uses an IPS panel (compared to the TN panel in the samsung) which mean much better viewing angles and more accurate colours. Also, the stand is very good. Here is an in-depth review.

The dell is probably overkill for Xbox gaming, but if you have a space restriction, a decent budget and want the best panel available - then that is what I would go for.

looking at this video the screen can tilted backwards 15 degrees on the stand, but the stand does not allow any other adjustment.

Thanks for your reply, I have been looking at the Dell but was unsure about the response times for gaming, plus as you mentioned, the possibility of being overkill.

Saying that I would much prefer an IPS panel, I've not used a TN panel since purchasing a Dell 2007WFP S-IPS model a good few years ago.

That review looks very promising though, so thanks for that. Just need to persuade the other half that it's worth the extra cost :D

I wouldn't worry about the response time to be honest - it is significantly better than most TVs and about on-par with the average TN monitor (in independent tests, not the quoted specs which really don't tell the true story)- mainly due to the well implemented overdrive used by dell. A lot of people use this monitor for PC gaming and find it to be very good.

As for the cost, isn't cheap- but imho it is worth it for the quality.

I got a Viewsonic VX2260WM as it was the next best thing to the TV that the "MLG" use for their Halo 3 Tourneys although i think for this year its the ASUS VH something might be worth a look, since they only use them for games. Although Colours are Amazing on my Viewsonic right enough for PC stuff.

Think i'll go with the Dell, looks to be on offer some places at the moment for sub £200, just a shame I don't get paid until Friday! :(

Looks like the ASUS VH236H that MLG are using, which as far as I can see is US only. Looks like a nice monitor though, and pretty cheap going by US prices I can find.
