I have recently had a problem with my BenQ G2420HDBL 24" Monitor, every now and then it goes blank, then comes back on right away, sometimes it does it loads of times in quick succession and other times it only does it once. Also after it comes back on, sometimes, i see a few lines on the screen flicker then disappear.

I've had this monitor and system for about 18 months and this is the first time it has done it.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you got a other monitor to test your system with? Or maybe a other videocard? Some motherboard have onboard gpu wich you could try. Using other hardware is pretty much the only way to find the problem.

I can't test that out right now, but lets say i do try another monitor and it keeps doing it, does that mean i need a new GPU?

Most likely its your gpu then yes but it could also be the motherboard. The only way to find it out is to replace the hardware as i said. You havent changed your gpu driver recently? I dont think its software related but you never know.

Don't suppose you got a resolution from this did you?

I've got a Benq G2320HDBL which I have connected to the onboard graphics in our work PC's by VGA whoch has been fine and dandy for ages now.

Now my boss asked me to get a second monitor connected up so I've put the Benq G2320 and instead of connecting it via VGA i've used a DVI cable and used a DVI -> display port convertor and connected it that way, and connected the second monitor, a Benq G2255 via VGA.

Its only since I've done that does the main screen that is connected via the DVI->Display Port connector does exactly what you describe. It'll just flick off intermittently every now and then.

Just wondering if you use DVI or the display port adapters or anything with your monitor? Its nothing to do with using two monitors as I tried it with just the Benq G2320 connected via the DVI->Display port adapter and it still did it every so often.
