Based in the uk, I have a Dilemma, i previously bought a new pc and purchased a new monitor for it to replace my 24" lcd 1080p the one i choose was a budget AOC Q24G4RE 24 inch ips monitor as i was a bit short of cash after buying the new pc plus i didnt want to spend a lot of money on the monitor at the time, not i have had it for a number of months i dont really see much difference between it and my previous 1080p infact the 1080p monitor does seem better, now my question is do i upgrade to a 27" monitor or do i spend more on a better quality monitor or do i just make do with what i have. Main use for the monitor is gaming and general web browsers and research so i am thinking an oled would out of the question because of the burn-in problem. I decided to ask a couple of AI search engines the question and one said to increase the size to 27" and get a oled but the other said that the 24" was the best option and to stick with what i had, if i was going to buy a new monitor my budget would be £200-£400.viewing distance is approx 28-30inches or about 70cms.

Seriously don't worry about burn in on oled I've had many of them and still have and built in protection is enough, so none issue. I have amongst other oled monitors a MSI MPG 271QR 500hz it's a great display if you can stretch to £425 or send them an offer on Bgrade. I was selling one on MM but your some way off access yet. However I did pull the sale as I decided to keep it as I like the display it will do me as a second monitor.

What do you mean by no difference? No difference in what context? Image quality? Workspace? Response time?

Are you actually using the 1440p resolution, in your games/apps?

In what ways does the 1080p monitor seem better?

What are you trying to get out of the upgrade? I mean, what is it that you want?

The 1440p monitor would have given you more usable workspace, which should have helped somewhat with your research?

For web browsing, I also find the vertical space is helpful.

With gaming, are you playing in 1440p, or 1080p?

27" (assuming you go 1440p and not 4K) adds screen space, but it doesn't add more workspace and depending on which monitor you buy, it it is unlikely to give you better image quality or text either, because the resolution is the same as your 24".

Also worth checking that the monitor is set to run at 180hz and A-Sync is enabled, wouldn't be the first time I came across someone that "upgraded" from an old 60hz 1080P monitor then forgot to actually adjust the settings accordingly.

Had the same thing going 1080 to a cheap 1440, looked almost identical until I actually set the refresh and turned adaptive sync on. Worth double checking the AOC is on 180Hz and A Sync before you bin it. If you do jump, OLED is a bigger step than another IPS for most games, just pick one with a decent warranty and accept youll need pixel refresh habits. 9070 XT will drive either fine.

checked its set to 180hz in windows and a sync is on. one thing i do notice everytime i compare both monitors is that my old monitor just seems brighter, like the white in windows seems so much brighter, the new monitor is on 100% brightness.
