Monitor is in sleep mode on boot with graphics card

you can see the bios screen? what gpu/board? latest motherboard bios?

The gpu is an msi oc gtx 770.

The mobo is a gigabyte z68ap-d3. The mobo is updated with the latest bios.

I can get to and past the bios screen but it won't go further than the windows loading page. After that the monitor goes into sleep mode.

I'm using onboard intel graphics at the moment and everything is running fine. So i don't think its a motherboard problem.

ive come across this before but cant remember what the cure was

something to do with uefi I think,i don't know if those cards have a backup bios switch on them? or in the bios something to do with legacy you need to set to

EDIT: your plugging the display cable into the graphic card and not the motherboard? (that's if it has onboard graphics some giga z68 don't)

It doesn't have a backup switch that i can see. I'll check the uefi bios now. I'm definitely plugging the pci e cables into the gpu.

Are you using a Displayport cable? Poorer quality DP cables don't have one of the pins disconnected, the power one, which can cause this issue. Try using a DVI or HDMI cable instead.
