Monitor model naming

I notice some monitors of the same model have extra letters / numbers at the end. I thought initially this might be just colour etc, but after looking into some brands, they are often quite different, ie the Iiyama E2201W-B2 has an earlier version (B1?) which has significantly lower input lag.

I'm interested in the Iiyama E2403WS because of it's very low input lag, but while searching about have noticed sometimes the model is listed as above, but sometimes there is a -1 added, and sometimes a -B1 added. Does anyone here know what these additions, if anything, mean on this model?

Iiyama seem to do all kinds of revisions, I'd say you're best clarifying with them direct if you can

I did contact them and had this swift response:

Dear Sir,

I am happy to confirm that there is only one product called the
PLE2403WS. The -B, -1 has internal system relevances only.

Best regards

I responded:

Thanks for the reply.

By 'internal system' are you referring to administrative things, or systems within the monitor? The reason I ask is that I need low input lag monitor. For example, your 22 inch model E2201W-B1 boasted zero input lag, but the B2 model that replaced had much higher input lag. Hardcore gamers and sim racers need low input lag - and many vendors who don't know the difference are still advertising the E2201W-B1 but are shipping the B2???

His reply:

Hi

Administrative mainly, but if we had a panel revision then the number would change from '1' to '2'.

Regarding your concerns about the E2201 B1 and B2 models, there is nothing different between the actual panel. The difference is a piece of circuit called DCR which effects the Contrast Ratio. The Input lag was caused by this circuit, which we were fully aware would happen and hence put a feature in the product to disable the DCRvia the OSD which is in the User Manual. This would then revert the product back to B1 spec.

The E2403WS also has the DCR circuit as standard from first launch and hence the B1 version; but you can also disable this on this product to. I am not sure anybody has tested the Input Lag on the E2403W but it has been bought by many gamers using 1920 x 1080 applications and havent had one complaint on performance.

Hope this helps.

Best regards

Good info that.

yes, a decent reply from Iiyama. would be interesting to see if turning the DCR off on the "2" model does help or not
