Hey all,

I've had this issue with my PC for quite some time now and just recently it's really starting to bug me.

When I switch my computer on my monitor does not wake up.. I then have to reboot sometimes 2-3 times before the monitor wakes up.
The same thing sometimes happens when the PC is waking from sleep and sometimes happens when the monitor has gone to sleep but the PC hasn't.
I bought a new monitor about a year ago thinking the problem was with the monitor however it never fixed the problem. Have swapped the cables over, updated the BIOS, reinstalled Windows & updated graphics drivers.
I just can't figure out why it's happening and really starting to **** me off.

TLDR;
Monitor won't wake from power or sleep, tried all sorts, still doesn't work.

System Spec.
OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Pro 64bit
Version 10.0.15063 Build 15063
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4690K CPU @ 3.50GHz, 3501 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
Motherboard Asus Maximus VII Gene
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 3003, 28/10/2015
Graphics Card EVGA Geforce GTX 980 Classified
RAM 2 x 4GB HyperX Fury, 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengance

Would appreciate any suggestions / help on the matter.

Yes, using Display Port and have the USB hub plugged in from the monitor. DP because 144hz.
It could be a DP issue - it's a known issue with the nViidia 9 and 10 series cards. Annoying but there are temporary work around or a fix if you use a different flavoured port.

There are a number of temporary fixes such as removing the DP cable and then unplugging monitor from the wall for 10 minutes (depleting all power by pressing the power button after doing so). But if this were to work as mentioned it's usually only temporary.

To test conclusively this is the issue - try using an HDMI cable for a few days and see if it resolves the issue. It should if it's DP related.

Edit: for 1440p @ 144Hz you may want make sure it's an HDMI 2.0 cable - but for testing any HDMI should do.

Similar issue with the OP. My monitor is a Samsung and GPU is a Radeon 380 but l have the same issues. DP cable swap didn't help either.

The issue I was referring to is nVidia specific.

What else have you tried?

It sounds very similar to my monitor problems. Rarely it might lose signal and l will have to restart the PC once or several times to get anything on the screen. Other times waking up from sleep won't display anything on the monitor. Same issue with monitor going to sleep and then it will require a restart to get anything working.

The few things I've tried so far was buying a different DP cable and changing the bios back to optimised defaults which didn't help. I will format tonight after work and hope for the best.

Hey guys,

May have fixed it. When checking my settings I found that it was on 60hz not 144hz. Have changed this and set Gsync to be on in and out of full screen. Not had the issue since but not tested for long enough to confirm it is 100% fixed.
Regarding Plec: Edit: for 1440p @ 144Hz you may want make sure it's an HDMI 2.0 cable - but for testing any HDMI should do.
Isn't 144hz only available for DP or can I get 144hz on HDMI 2.0?
