Well I have just ordered a new monitor but now in panicking thinking "maybe it's not the monitor".

Hmm how do I upload a video from my phone?

FFS i uploaded it to Facebook but you cant see the problem :(.

well basically when i am in a game there are vertical lines kind of pulsing on my screen. they are just a tiny bit darker/lighter than the actual colours inside the game. it seems to be getting worse aswell.

not like really sharp totally different coloured lines (my experience of tearing when a GPU is about to die).

nothing is happening while i view this site and nothing happens on the desktop, but ingame its very distracting.

hmm ok, it seems to be the cable. or what i think is the cable.

was exactly the same on the TV apart form the picture was a hell of a lot better lol. so i grabbed the hdmi cable and used that and the picture wasn't great but the problem seemed to be gone.

i do recall something when i was installing my gpu along the lines of - dont use an adaptor for the dvi cable. do you think it could be that? i have no other cables. and there is no slot for the cable to fit into the gpu without the adaptor on the end of it :S

EDIT - the manual says "do not use a VGA adaptor for the DVI-D. i am using RGB. my monitor only has RGB and HDMI connectors.

i think il be sticking with my order but i would like some info just so i dont have the problem again.

is RGB the same as VGA? if so this could be the problem.

EDIT2 - seems i am using the DVI-I (if thats correct) not the DVI-D (this one still has the plastic cover on it.

so i am still getting the wavey/pulsating lines any ideas? i have no problem watching videos or normal tasks but as soon as i start to game i get the wavey/pulsating lines.

i am going to buy a hdmi cable tmoz and see if that better (it was on the TV i tried), but surely if the vga is like that it is a problem?

VGA is analog, it is very susceptible to interference or cable length problems... hdmi is digital, it basically either works or it doesnt which is why you dont get the problem, just get a hdmi cable
