Monitor or TV?

I have an old Dell 2405FPW and it has been utterly faultless since I bought it at launch, but am now looking into something a little better for basic Xbox duties.
I'm torn between going for a larger TV or sticking with a monitor set up, as for the money, it seems you get a lot more in terms of aesthetics and panel quality with a monitor.

Budget is £300 tops. What would you recommend?

If your primary usage scenario is console games, then a TV is indeed more recommended.

If you can stretch your budget and swing to around £500, then I would strongly recommend the Sony KDL42W705 or KDL42W653, which are currently the #1 and #2 of the low-input-lag HDTVs.

If £300 is your absolute maximum, then your only sensible option would be the Samsung UE32F5000, which will be around £200-250.

If the TVs don't entice you enough, then there's the Asus SonicMaster MX279H. Unfortunately, it's out-of-stock (was £276). Then there's also the BenQ GW2760HS for £200, which might be worth a consideration.

All of the five products mentioned above are 1920x1080 ("FullHD").

Thanks aatu.

I did actually almost buy a Samsung UE32F5000 earlier for £220 but I drove half way there and got told it was out of stock as it was EOL :(

If I had more pennies to play with I'd be all over the Sony, but £300 is my max this month as I'm saving for a house deposit as well so funds are tighter than a nuns chuff :(

Is the Asus VN279QLB any good?

I haven't heard from that particular model before, but at a brief glance it would seem to be quite comparable to the BenQ GW2760HS.
