Monitor problem - too dark?

Hi all

Would appreciate any help.

I bought my GF a Samsung Pebble 17-incher back in March, and it seems to have developed a problem. The image on it is far darker than it should be, and no amount of playing with the brightness/contrast settings seems to fix it.

Is it possible that the backlight has gone?

If the backlight was gone I would expect you to see no image (unless you shone a light at the panel). Have you double checked the graphics card brightness settings to ensure they haven't been tweaked?

Do you have another monitor to plug in and try out?

does it have a preset on the menu , ie cool , warm etc or maybe a feature called magic bright or even colour tone settings.

my sammy has all of these and they are accessable by the buttons on the bottom of the monitor
