Hi,

I recently bought a Tritan Triceratop from overclockers:

- CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K 3.30GHz Sandybridge overclocked to 4.40GHz
- Motherboard: Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard ** B3 REVISION
- Cooler: Xigmatek Red Scorpion CPU Cooler
- RAM: 4GB DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
- Hard Drive: 500GB HDD
- GTX460

Firstly my graphics drivers are up to date.

I was initially running the system using a 19" Phillips monitor via a VGA cable on the maximum possible resolution of 1600x1200. Running games such as Deus ex, Skyrim and Crysis on high settings. The games all ran very smoothly.

For christmas I got a new LG M2450D 24" HDMI TV monitor and am using it via HDMI (max res 1920x1080)

I understand that the higher res will affect gameplay however the games have almost ground to a halt. I can now only play skyrim smoothly if the texture quality is on low with anti-aliasing and anistropic filtering off. Surely my comp can do better than this !?

I have tried to lower the resulution to 1600x1200 with graphics set at medium (lower than when using the Phllips monitor) but it is still really laggy. Crysis is totally unplayable and I havent even tried Deus ex.

I might be missing something here but I honestly thought my new system would be able to deal with the likes of Skyrim. I know its not the best on the market or anything but its still a decent system?

If anyone can give me any pointers or advice it would be much appreciated !

How did you chnage things?
It should have been a simple case of unplug lead, replug lead, goto settings and change the res.
Did you do something else?
Install anything you didn't need etc?

I simply unplugged the old monitor and completely removed the vga cable. before plugging in the new monitor via hdmi.

i havent installed anything at all.

am I right in thinking this is unusually slow performance? The pc has been great before the new monitor. I thought it might be something to do with displaying a higher number of pixels ?

I have tried using the VGA cable instead of the HDMI on the 24" monitor. The games all run perfectly again. The sharpness of the picture is obviously not as good though.

The HDMI lead works fine and has also been tested on my xbox with no problems.

Is there anything I can do to get it to work with HDMI ?
