Hello.
My pc:
6700K stock
*16GB DDR4
*Asus Z170-P
*Corsair 750 RM
*Gtx 1080 Ti Founder Edition
*Monitor Red Eagle IIyama 24' 1080p 144hz plugged by display port cable to GFX.

Maybe this is coincidence and i am worrying about nothing.
Few days ago i booted pc fine but i saw that Windows 10 desktop refresh changed itself from 144hz to lower value ( i dont remember to which ) . To restore again 144hz , i turned off monitor ,turned again on.
That happened just once. I remember that this day i had power outage. This was related to power outage or it was coincidence?

My Dell S2716DG will sometimes do this and be stuck at 85Hz. I reboot the PC to fix it, didn't try turning monitor off and on again.

I have a GTX 1080.

Can you tell me when this happens? After Windows 10 startup boot?
Right after booting the PC if I check the refresh rate it's sometimes(very rarely) stuck at 85Hz and there's no option for it to go higher. This is a boot from off with Windows 10 fast startup disabled in the power options.

Really sorry for my language. If i can i explain this more clearly.

Few days ago I get power outage.

Pc was running in fire strike benchmark with monitor ON. At the same time my mother was powering on electric oven in kitchen. And then power went out in house.

Just before power went out, pc was running in Fire Strike test, and monitor was on. When power went out,pc goes off and monitor goes off.

When power back ,monitor turns on itself . Then I booted pc , all was looking fine, Windows 10 booted with 144hz

But after moment I shutdown pc by clicking shutdown in Windows 10 and I manually turned off monitor. After 30 minutes ,first I turn on manually monitor, then I boot pc again. Windows 10 booted with lower refresh than 144hz.( on nvidia panel still 144hz ) To restore 144hz I just turned off monitor and turn on again. And this not happened since.

And my question. It was related to this power outage or just coincidence?

And I am not able to reproduce. Turning off pc few times and booting again, and nothing, still 144hz. Even I cut power 3 times to check, but still 144hz on boot.

So maybe that was glitch.windows, system, drivers or something but not related to that power outage? Or maybe power outage was the reason, but the problem didn´t show up immediately?

It is just a coincidence. I have the same problem, I replied to your comment on my profile saying I hadn't tried turning the monitor off and on again and will do so next time it happens. I wouldn't worry about it as I doubt it's a problem with the monitor or graphics card. It's probably due to Windows + Nvidia drivers.

Are you using the cable that came with the monitor and is it displayport? I tried a new cable that was on the certified list https://www.displayport.org/product-category/cables-adaptors/?ps=&pcat[]=cables-connectors and it made no difference. As long as you are not using an uncertified cable that you bought yourself (it didn't come with the monitor) then there shouldn't be an issue.

Yes i am using cable that came with the monitor and is it displayport.

First pc boot ( after unexpected shutdown in event logs due to power outage ) was fine, Windows 10 booted with 144hz refresh. But for a moment i turn off pc normally by clicking shutdown in Windows 10 and turned off monitor. After 30 minutes i booted pc second time and windows 10 showed lower refresh than 144hz. I mean on nvidia panel was still 144hz. But i see that on screen are lower refresh.
To revert 144hz i just turned off monitor and turned on again. So propably coincidence?

Sounds very much coincidental. I really wouldn't worry about it unless the problem progresses ie the monitor doesn't turn on sometimes etc.

I have an issue with my monitor's firmware where at random when it turns on or when I load into/alt-tab out of a game a small columns of about ten pixels width relocates from the centre of the screen to the far left/right of it. I could send the monitor and have the firmware upgraded but seeing as alt-tabbing again or a quick monitor power off/on fixes it I don't bother. It's probably why I got the monitor for a great price as b-grade.

So it was related to power outage , system or something with monitor firmware?
system quirk. when I installed my 144hz monitor everything initially was fine, amd software was showing it at 144hz etc - but a couple of days later I noticed games looked gash and I was still getting screen tearing etc again. went into windows display adapter properties and it had set it to something silly like 40hz for some reason. had to manually select 144hz and all has been fine since then

Ok i know you say for sure that i am stupid, but i agreed. I cut power to pc few times to reproduce issue exactly like on this day. But i cant reproduce. Pc booting and restarting exactly with 144hz.

So why it happened just once? Can somebody explain me? Something related to outage or just random glitch?

You're not stupid but you are torturing yourself for no reason. Even the most stable of pc's will occasionally do something weird and wonderful. If it hasn't happened again worry not about it. Enjoy your pc - don't be beating it up just cause it had a moment!

As above , PC's can do weird things and its mostly the software not the hardware that's at fault.

If i can offer you a little tip it would be to NOT deliberately cut the power to the pc, that's just asking for problems.
