Monitor Rippling?

On random occasions my Asus VW193S seems to ripple if you know what I mean. It's like everything sort of jutters from right to left really slightly, sort of like a ripple. What's going on?

what interface are you using? Make sure you're running at 60Hz refresh rate as well

so DVI from graphics card, into a VGA on monitor? prob just a consequence of the digital to analogue conversion tbh. maybe fine a straight VGA > VGA connection would be slightly better if it's an option. also maybe try a different cable

Sounds like the problem yeah, it only happens occasionally so I guess it's not too big of an issue. Was just wondering if it's a problem with the monitor itself.

That monitor rippling is an annoying issue with my older systems and I've no idea why it happens. :confused:

What's strange though is a more recent system I built with an analogue only Viewsonic VA1912w with the cable plugged into a 2600XT dual DVI graphics card via a DVI -> DSUB dongle doesn't suffer from the rippling problem at all.

I'll see if I can find time at the weekend to do some tests with various cables, dongles, graphics cards and monitors to see if I can eliminate it on the systems that it occurs on.

I think its a monitor/cable problem, not graphics card.

I had my monitor hooked to my 7800GS AGP a few months ago, and it used to happen sometimes, and then I upgraded my rig with an 8800GT PCIe and it still happens sometimes.

I was also using a DVI-VGA dongle with both cards.

my old crt does that, a quick bat around the side(like slapping a woman, YES!!!) sorts it(like slapping a woman.. YES!!)
