Hi All,
I've got an LG 34UC87 ultrawide monitor (bought it when they first came out, so out of warranty now) and have started having some markings on the screen.
Noticed them a month or two ago, and look like water stains. Quite bad when turned on from cold but tend to be far less noticeable once it's been on for a while.
Cleaning the screen didn't help so looks to be inside. Warranty expired so nothing ventured.....
I carefully dismantled the monitor and took out the screen. Separated the LCD panel from the backlight and had a look around. No obvious staining that I could see on either. Cleaned the back of the lcd panel with alcohol wipes, and removed the thin back light plastic layers/diffusers. Again, nothing there. Getting them back in without hairs or dust was a nightmare though - they get static easily. :O
All back together now - and stains still remain.
Also for some reason the screen seems a little darker at the top now when viewing straight ahead but seems fine when viewing from an elevated angle... odd, since I didn't touch the actual led back light and put the diffusers back in as I found them.
Is this looking like an lcd panel defect rather than a moisture stain?
Might be a good excuse to go for a new monitor - the new lg nano-ips ones maybe.![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
