Hope you guys can help, got a extended ethernet put in between two sites in the same town, supposed to be 100Mb :) however it keeps dropping, BT are looking at it again, but I want to fully check out the infrastructure either side. which is Fibre.

What software can I use to monitor it and kind of tell where the problem is?

If its a LES based product check the obvious stuff first:

Port Speed and Duplex settings on your equipment need to be nailed rather than autodetect. Many moons ago, I seem to recall LES preferred half duplex. Get that checked.

Swap out a switch if you can to prove your kit isnt at fault.

Check any fibre interconnects on your side of the LES connection and consider swapping/replacing cables as a proactive measure.

Still not fixed it, but getting close,

Basically there is a 100Mb link between two sites, HO is straight into the Cisco stack, the remote site comes out of the NTE, into a switch, then fibre to a switch in a node 200m away to supply some PC's there, then fibre back out to a final node with two switches in, a PoE to power wifi and phones and a 48 port switch...

So far turned on STP, set all fibre ports to manual 1000Mbps with flow control, changes fly leads... Mondays job is to set up laptops at each switch and pingpath every other switch to find out where the issue is....
