Monitors have got to be the hardest thing to buy

I'm not sure what the latest model is called but you could have a look at whatever the equivalent Dell S2721DGFA is these days. Bought one about a year or so ago and these are IPS Quad HD monitors @ 165hz. The colour vibrancy is really good. Matte screen. Good I/O and stand. I'd rate them high.
They don't seem to do 27 IPS gaming panels anymore.

Aside from the Alienware one.

Why did you return it? I was considering the LG27GP850-B.

I found the IPS glow really bad, I was coming from a TN and understood IPS glow was a thing, but it was much worse than I expected, and not something I can really notice on any of the IPS screens I use at work, so this seemed like a particularly bad example. I realise this can be a bit of a lottery though, so if I got another it could be much better.
I did use it for a week and fully intended to keep it, I figured I play in a fairly well lit room and most of the time it wasn't noticeable, but I ended up playing some dark scenes in a game for a while and it was just so noticeable and off putting, I figured it would really bug me.
I'm pretty much set on an OLED now, but its still not a simple decision as to which. One that stood out for me when I was looking at IPS was the MSI MAG274QRF-QD, but there has been no stock for ages and it seems to be priced higher than it should be, also the Gigabyte M27Q-X but looks like that may have been discontinued which is a shame.

Thanks for sharing the info mate. That's disappointing to hear as it was well rated. What do you have now?

MAG274QRF-QD is one I've looked at but reviews say it contrast is still typical IPS and it's too colourful, if that's a thing lol.

Still back with my old TN for now. According to monitors unboxed that MSI does well for contrast, typical for an IPS sure, but still better than a lot of others, and much better than the LG, though overall they do still rate the LG and often recommend it. Just a case of weighing up all those positives and negatives I guess.

I've been looking for a new 2nd monitor for a while now after my last broke been looking at returned monitors and B grade as it's only a 2nd one. Just bought one from a well known high street store, Huawei Mate 1440p 165hz for £95, well chuffed with that buy, it was going for £105 last night I went in the store to pick it up and was reduced by a tenner.

Agreed.

Was looking at the upcoming ProArt 278CVG. Only to find it's brightness is locked to 80 nits in sRGB mode! Urgh.

Nowhere seems to sell the M27Q X which seems to be one of the best out the box sRGB modes available
