Monitors - when did you convert to TFT?

2010, AW2310. used a 19" CRT from 2000 till then

June 2005 at work, followed by the purchase of a 19" Dell TFT monitor in October 2005 for my home PC.

The Dell TFT is still going strong. I can't justify replacing it until it breaks :(

best guess 2004 with a 19" slow ms panel that cost a fortune. G-sync 27" today.

I do still have my iiyama 17" CRT up in the attic... Only cos its too heavy to bring down, and maybe one day i'll make something out of it ! retro style !!!!

Owned a Sony Triniton 21 inch CRT in 2000 which I kept until 2005, made the mistake of lumping it to Uni which was great as we used to play network UT, Quake etc. However with all the cigarette smoke - it quickly changed from a nice off-white to a horrible yellow in no time and by the time I returned home - it looked minging.

Moved onto a Sony Vaio for a while and then reverted back to a proper PC in 2008 with a 22 inch Iiyama. I still own the Iiyama today, loathe to get rid as the picture quality has always been good, no back light bleed and dead pixels.

At work adopted flatscreens in 2007, a couple of decent NEC units too - I have always thought they look smart and have a bullet proof quality.

I miss my CRT, I wish I had kept it (it got skipped). :(

I had one of them Dell 24" 2405FPW monitors back then (Paid £800 for it if I remember right)
I Still feel like that monitor had a better picture then most of the latest monitors I have used ....

And I far from rich....:(

I'm still using a 2405FPW from 2005 for the PC. It is still in great condition.

My first was a 19" Sony SDM-HS95P. Still have it but the out of box settings were awful with lots of cursor trails. It was rectified later.

Samsung 226BW in 2007 which became my second monitor when it started failing, it has since fully failed due to the crap capacitors, Samsung were using. If I knew it was the capacitors at fault before I ungently opened it curious as to what it's like inside I would have fixed it. I also probably wouldn't have bought another, Samsung.

Second TFT and current screen bought in 2011, Samsung SyncMaster SA350.

LCD do have adjustable refresh rates.......Unless you only buy a 60hz one..

Maybe you meant CRT had adjustable Resolutions without giving you a blurry picture that is what I miss (And great black levels ;))

Unfortunately the selection of IPS monitors that are more than 60Hz is somewhat limited...

My first TFT was in 2009.

I was running a really nice 21" Mitsubishi Diamond Pro flat CRT which I got in 2003.
Before that a 17" Sony Trinitron in 1996 which cost me £800.

I miss my CRT's :p

Samsung 172W in 2003

Was actually pretty groundbreaking at the time with its 16:10 aspect ratio, when everything at the time was 5:4.

I had a 19" CRT for years as it was much better quality than the TFTs of the time, and 19" was pretty big for a CRT without spending stupid money.

My first proper flat panel monitor was a Dell 2005FPW which is still working today on my daughters PC.
