I cant figure out why they wont make a 5th game.

Best trilogy of games ever ( i no theres 4 but that wasnt that great )

They would rake in the money big time

Bring back Guybrush !

 apparently they want to concentrate on $$$ making games like Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

they dont believe a 5th MI would be profitable, even though thousands of gamers would love to see it

lol, is that because you are too young to remember the other two? ;)

1. The Secret of Monkey Island
2. Monkey Island: LeChuck's Revenge
3. Curse of Monkey Island
4. Escape from Monkey Island

My personal favorite was MI2, spitting competition and raiding graveyards with no pants was sooooo much fun!

Unfortunately, I found it went pretty downhill from #3. It wasn't too bad an adventure game, but it was missing something that made #1 and #2 feel amazing, and I didn't even get round to finishing #4 as I got too bored, and I was a HUGE monkey island fan at the time. Unless a #5 was tuly amazing, I wouldn't want one to come out really.

You utter, utter barsteward. I thought you were going to announce the creation of the fifth game. You played with my emotions and I am now gutted. :(

Classics, every one. At least Sam and Max are back on track!

Ron Gilbert (the guy behind MI 1&2) gave an interview recently where he talked about how developers tune out when they hear the words "adventure game" :( :(

Money quote:
"It's actually kind of frightening, you know. You sit down with a publisher and the minute you mention anything like an adventure game or something story-based or adventure-game-like in any way, the meeting's basically over. So the publishers do have a huge resistance to this. And I think a lot of it is that they cannot point to anything like this that is successful in the market today. So it's very difficult for them to put anything behind it. It's a very difficult process."

Hopefully if sam'n max is a big success we'll see a few more.

3 was the best as it had voices and songs u could hear :P

i might re intsall 3 again and have a play

Cant wait for new indiana jones though and Broken sword

Theres an interesting potcast with Ron Gilbert (creator of Monkey Island )

Apparently he has a story all worked out on how he would like to tie up the series and also reveal what the secret is!

Went downhill probably because Ron Gilbert wasn't involved.

He also mentions the monkey island play some kid done -

My ballsacks!! 3 pulled sharply away from the original intended trilogy!! Anyone who was a real fan would know this, hence the weird fact that nothing links 2 to 3. So testicles to you you heathen!

2 was great, and 1 had some absolutely classic moments. 3 and 4 were both a bit meh.

I'm a real fan and I'll take Monkey Island in any form it arrives in thanks. As long as it continues to be witty and entertaining then all is good. I'm one of those people who actually likes playing *new* games rather than sitting around bored reminiscing about how good they used to be.

That's why I'm excited about BS4 -- it's never going to be a patch on the original two, but it's a new story and from the demo looks like it's going to be entertaining.

The only sequel to a popular game that I do wish was never released was Simon the Sorcerer 3D. That was the most terrible excuse for an adventure game ever. I hope they do a better job with SS4.

I also hope Sam & Max does really well. The episodic format is a pretty exciting development. Might make the major publishers sit up and take notice that adventure games most certainly aren't dead, and do have a strong (and potentially large) userbase.

Demo...how did I miss that?!

Broken Sword is brilliant. Not one of them has dissapointed me. God I want to play them again.

Luckily for me I created a ScummVM dvd with all my classics on there :D

Man i loved the MI series.......1 + 2 on my Amiga was awesome.....Especially all 12 floppy disks for MI 2 ( ) ......3 wasn't so clever but 4 was good but not great.....

Pleeease make 5 :(

Monkey Island 3 was one of my favourite games of all time, the jokes, the cartoon graphics, the story, the music

everythin about it was awesome... never really played 1 or 2 i was a bit young for them... i installed them on scumm when that came out, but they were too dated for me to get into... i could play 3 again and again though as its graphics are perfect

4 was very meh... tried to go all 3d, and lost its fun

Well it used an engine that really only suited Grim Fandango.

I wonder what a sequal to that would be like.
