Monkey Island, Day Of The Tentacle, Sam and Max, Grim Fandango

this is so weird, was talking to all these games with my mate last night. All the lucasart point and click games were brilliant, i spent hours playing day of the tentacle and sam and max, especially day of the tentacle where you could get into the mini game of maniac mansion. I tried to search for places to download them as i know a lot of websites now allow you to download old games if they arent protected. There just arent any new games out for ages that are good adventure point and click.
Does anyone know of any games like this that have been brought out recently?

Fahrenheit is similar in some ways but it's still not really the same type of game. I hear the new broken sword game will be classic point and click rather than the 3D style of the last one. Althought I'm guessing it will be 3D graphics with a 2D interface.

There are quite a few of this genre of game still coming out... pay close attention to the ex-Lucasarts guys who left after the whole Sam & Max 2 / Full Throttle 2 fiasco. I think one of the companies they formed is Telltale Games -- they seem to be helping quite a few companies get their games going.

So you'll be seeing a few games in the old Lucasarts vein soon. Have a look here for some games coming out soon. Out of those, Ankh doesn't look too bad (demo was pretty passable, if a bit short).

after seeing this thread i decided to go look at a few popular sites to see if i could purchase any new games in this genre, it came up with no results and they didnt even have any classics listed.

Only things we get close to games like these are decent single player RPGs, such as KOTOR, fantastic stories, lots of talking, and a hint of puzzle solving... though there's lots of action an levelling, so not everything's the same :p

I'm praying Sam + Max 2 has something good in it, or at least is as twisted and fun as the original game. We'll have to wait and see on that one I guess.

I think I need to get the original Broken Sword from somewhere and see if I can get into it, as it did look a good game originally when I played the demo way back in the day, but I didn't buy it.

It's a great game :) Only about £5 now and well worth it.

I'm a big fan of the Broken Sword series, looking forward to the next one.

Looks like a summer holidays jobbie methinks, after exams and waiting to start a placement of some sort :D

And I've found #1 + #2 for a total of £5 :D

Oooh definitely get them then :D They're both great :)

The misses absolutely loves this genre. She's just completed Curse of Monkey Island (again...) and is currently playing The Longest Journey (again...). She found and saw the Dreamfall (Longest Journey 2) vid and she was well exited!
