Monsta 500R - The further adventures of Petey

So nice looking! The colour of the coolant is so nice :)

Thanks mate, were you referring to the green or the blue?

If it's the green, then that's the colour of the tubing (with UV) along with a green LED in the reservoir. The coolant is clear :)

Now someone give me the money to get Parvum to build me this and also to go xfire for extra epeen pimpdom!

So I upgraded psu, mobo and cpu, added another 7970 and went for the tackiness crown :D
Sorry, couldn't be bothered to take better pics :)

Merry Christmas!

Corsair RM850 flat cables are ****.

Sadly, I had to sacrifice my soundcard as it didn't like being underneath the bottom gpu and since the backplate gets quite warm, I didn't want to put it in between the cards either. But I'm contemplating swapping out the 7970's for a 7990 and going back the old mobo which would would allow me to keep the Essence.

Nice petey, are you still holding out for the parvum case at all? I cannot fault mine its nearly finished and the cases are great, would complement your build.

In theory, yes.
It's just the expense of case + matx mobo + res and other bits n bobs really. We're talking close to £500 all in for pretty much just looks...

Tell me about it, i dropped having a 780 from my build to bring the price down abit.

Out of curiosity what sort of performance should i expect from my single 7970? Its a ocuk tech labs vtxed model, i game at 144mhz 1080p if that helps. Cheers.

Depends what you're playing, how much you can OC and what settings really :)

At 1080p a single 7970 at around 1150-1250mhz is generally fine with most demanding games at high to max settings. It was for me anyway.
Saying that, for your 144hz monitor, you really could do with another 7970 to get the most out of it.

Tell you what, forget gaming. Give me your cpu/mobo/monitor and I'll sell the dog and a couple of bits to fund the Parvum case :D

Very nice Pete, monsta's rock :D just stuck a 420 monsta in mine, forgot how big they were, it could cool a freaking car!!! ;)

Cheers Nick.
So you're back to the Monsta's? Man, you chop and change so often :D

I've got a couple of AX360's here. Half tempted to swap the front rad to give me a bit more space if I change to the 7990. Then again, I could just remove the pull fans and retain full Monsta status...

7990 goes right up to the fan grill. I'm really taking the **** with this case. She cannae take ne more! :D

Cheers guys :)

Looks like I'll most likely be bunging one of the 7990's in and chucking these on the miner with the other 7990.
Kinda sad because I really love the look of two cards :( Still, it does mean that the Essence will regain it's rightful place and we can banish Realtek audio back to the dungeon :)

Nice work Petey, greens not my favourite colour but it does look awesome in that build, job well done mate, shows what you can do with a bit of patience, imagination and good work.

Nice looking build there mate, just a quick question regarding the side panel, Did you put mod it yourself or did you buy the panel?? Im getting the 500r off the missus for xmas and looking to get rid of the mesh panel on the side and having a window.

Appreciate the comments, guys :)

@eviljester91
I cut the panel myself using a nibbler hand tool as the bulge on the outside as well as parts of the inside made it too awkward to use a jigsaw.
I'd recommend a dremel and a steady hand instead of a nibbler as it's bloody hard work :D

On another note, I'm just about to whack an EK nickel/plexi block on a 7990 and take the 7970's out. Very sad to lose the dual card look, but I wants muh soundcard back.
First world problems eh? :D

----VERY LATE EDIT--- Just in case anyone ever wondered what happened with that. You never know...

Cheers, i might just take the mesh out of the panel and make a small window and see how that looks, then eventually hack into the panel and make it a large window not sure yet.

The space has been used perfectly Pete, and you know i love the green :D
Sick RADs too
and Thanks for your comments means a lot when pro builders like yourself give some positive feedback :)

Very kind words mate. Thank you, but I'm far from anything close to a 'pro builder' :)

What you've created is easily up in that realm with the attention to detail and finishing quality though. All I did was cut a few things :D

That all looks very nicely put together in there Uncle Petey, I like the colour scheme. :) I also like the case modifications you did to get it to work for you.

Thanks Stuey, glad you like it :)

I'm somewhat of a sad panda as Parvum have declined to make the case I designed based on an S1.0 :(
Not sure what the exact reasons are tbh, but I think it's mainly to do with them being rather busy and stuff + they're bringing an official ATX case to market in the near future.

Anyway, here's what I wanted for those that haven't seen it and it's annoying because I have the mobo, 480 rad and the res just sitting here and ready to go...

There'd be a nice floor to ceiling vented shroud covering the front fans/pipework btw.

Anyone want to start an online petition? :D
