Monster system check please

Ok I have just had a reply on the SR-2 forum and even they say not to buy so i guess they would be the ones to know. how ever they said the sandy bridge e xeons would be out q1 2012 with dual 8 core's.

no way i can wait but wow that will be some beast.

so i just need to sort the ram situation. ive had a good scan through the web and 29th is earilest i can find anybody getting stock. Have been talking to OC and they say they cant get?
what are my other options go for a 32gb fast ram option 2400ghz lol

cheers

I have been talking to the SR-2 guys all day and its still not clear what the best solution is for this build. cost is about the same for the single x79 3690 build to a dual x5690 xeon buld.

logic says the dual xeon is faster and prfessional workstations designed for adobe and sony use them.

completely stuck now.

How gutted would you be if in a few months time that SR-3 came out with XEON CPU's and it blows everything out the water?

there is a third option.

I only have 2 more weddings to film this year and then nothing until about april.

could you spec me a low price 2500k based system.
to use one of my 580gtx cards would need 12gb ram

I could make do for a few months i guess depending on what budget we could get this system in for?

the system will ultimately be for my father to surf and compile the family tree so doesnt have to be top end.

just need psu mobo cpu and ram.
if it wasnt for the editing id say intergrated graphics would have been an option.

any ideas

thank you

sounds like a great plan, thanks for your help. No doubt things will change again but even if they do the oldman will get something nice for christmas.

ps dont you sleep you were on here 10am this morning!

thats what im thinking, If i can save another £1000 i might just be able to build it.

the main problem with the x79 build was the lack of ram options using 8gb sticks.
buying some time probebly is the right thing to do however hard!

just a quick thought stulid, i have 3 4gb sticks of sector 7 patriot ram left from my original x58 build, would 2 of those work?

in this i know they are triple channel. not sure of compatability issues.
need that 4.5ghz over clock too

as long as it does 1.5v(1.65v max) then its fine, you can't use ram that needs volts higher than that

Ive had a look around on google, and coming from 3 identical sticks to 2 in dual is easy, its people trying to get a 4th to run in 4th slot dual that seem to have problems.

its not a huge amount of money but every bit helps

pulled the trigger arrives Monday, A sad end to the "Monster System Check"

£470 lol

x79 3690x 64gb ram?
