Monthly Internet Limit

Myself and my missus are moderate users. This is what we've used over the last 6 months:

05-2011 140.31 GB
04-2011 225.73 GB
03-2011 120.37 GB
02-2011 149.61 GB
01-2011 157.96 GB
12-2010 66.73 GB

So yes, you'll probably need more.

You guys use so much internets :(

This is my last 3 months.

I am a reasonably heavy user with the exception that I don't download 5Tb of dodgy stuff every month. I therefore use nothing like 250gb a month despite spending loads of time playing games, using iplayer and posting complete rubbish on internet forums.

You'll be fine.

200gb? That's quite easy to get through for me alone.

I must get through about 400gb a month alone, so you might need much more than that :). I should really get around to getting a tomato/Ddwrt router ,my current one is incompatible.

Thats because you are one of these people who torrents the entire internet and are pretty much the reason most ISP's have limits these days.

No, lol. It's a private tracker, you have to maintain a certain ratio. My torrent files only span 11 files and they are stuff that I have watched, I am not a digital hoarder but I have to maintain a good enough ratio otherwise I will get kicked off the best tracker in the world :(.

Also I am saving up a buffer for the summer when I will turn it off for gaming.

You just need to have a house meeting and work out what you all download, what porn you like and work out how you can save bandwidth by sharing.

Back in the early days of broadband, with stricter download limits, we ran a network in the house where we could share our download partitions. So you just go into the Network Neighbourhood (oldskool Win 98/2000) and find your housemates' downloads and they find yours. Or just type \\housemate's name in Explorer. Then by having shares, you won't download as much.

Online gaming itself barely uses more than a 56k modem, although it's obviously more if you're using Teamspeak or Skype while playing.

Yeah, there will be 4 of us in the house. So 50gb/each...

iPlayer and streaming TV I think may be the biggest issue....

Saying that, taking into account what everyone on the whole has said, I might try monitoring it for the first month, see how it works out...

I'm finding it tough with 150GB. 30 between 9am and midnight. So basically a gig a day in proper time. I need to get up early and get my **** done.
