Monthly usage question and Eclipse Internet opinions

Just point out that it's an 18 month contract so they're stuck with it until November 2007 if they sign up now and that the broadband market is a rapidly changing one.
Yeah im aware of this and so are they, all i can do is continue to warn them of this and hope they change their mind.

Yeah, i agree, the traffic shaping does not appear to be doing its job. It should be crippling newsgroup/FTP/P2P traffic but instead the http traffic is reduced to dialup speeds.
are Eclipse using traffic shaping now? :(
hope not or i will be jumping ship v soon,i mean what use is a fast line if you cant use it for p2p (for Linux distros obviously)
who needs 8 meg for surfing FFS

Not traffic shaping per se, but traffic prioritising, yes. Depending on the package you are on, will determine the priority you get - naturally the more expensive packages get highest priority. E.g. Evo option4 (£29.99) has highest priority followed by Evo 3 (£24.99) etc.

am on option 4 .10 th day after max enable today :( speeds on p2p are crap has been off and on since regrading.will give em a month or so to `sort` out any hiccups if not then......splash(sound of me jumping ship) :p

We have been working hard to analyse the issue that you raised over the last few days to determine the exact cause of the problem.

We believe that we have now identified a potential cause and will be taking action today to resolve this issue.

We have also been aware of BRAS profile issue which would have affected the speed of your broadband connection. Will still need to wait up to a 3 day period for your connection profile to read the correct setting before you will see an improvement of throughput speed for your connection.

We would ask you to keep monitoring the speed of your connection over the next 3 days. If you do not see any improvement in your connection then please do contact us as we will happily investigate this further for you.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and we would like to thank you for your patience.

speed

Have been with them for a while and no complants, upgraded to option 2 and seems ok but the router shows 4.9 to 5.2mbps the same as line stats, checked with severel outside speed checkers and they show anything from 1.2 to 1.5mbps, quired with tech as Eclipse and this was the reply:-

We have been working hard to analyse the issue that you raised over the last few days to determine the exact cause of the problem.

Please note: Your 8Mbps line is monitored in the first 10 days of connection. As a result of this monitoring process your broadband service may be periodically interrupted for up to 1 minute. This is normal and most routers will reconnect automatically, although modem users will need to manually reconnect to the internet.

Within this 10 day period some customers may also experience a delay in the setting of their broadband profile. This results in services remaining at the default broadband line speed up to 2Mbps rather than realigning to faster speeds up to 8Mbps.

We would ask you to keep monitoring the speed of your connection. If you do not see any improvement in your connection then please do contact us as we will happlily investigate this further for you once the 10 day period has completed.

We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused and we would like to thank you for your patience.

So there does seem to be something amiss at the office, so hope it gets sorted
