Could be a chinese moped, I wouldnt personally. I cant imagine insurance being easy since most insurance companies probably wouldnt have it listed. Stick to the major brands.

when my brother had his apparently yamaha aerox or something was the best as it was de-restricted easily and would do 45 - 50 mph. :)

the pug streetfighters are good, as are gilera runners, gilera DNa is more a motorbike style 50cc, i used to have a malaguti firefox and italjet do a great tuneable scoot :)

these were all 5 years ago though, i still see the gileras about though.

clicky

gfet something liek that, trailers are so much better than mopeds and Don't buy brand new you'll only keep a moped for 1 year. Why lose all that money. Spend 500-600 and you should be able to sell for the same price.

nah, i would love a speedfight 2, or even 1.. but they are loads

dna, aint a big fan on them.. when i went on 1 it didnt feel right

plus i want a pull and go

Is it scarey at those speeds?

the DNA is a pull and go, no gears. Get a runner anyway, scooters come and go, but the gilera has stayed throughout - tells you something.

ive got an aprilia sr50 ditech, its restricted but still does 45mph on a straight because its only restricted by the ecu and washer on the variator not like normal peds where are restricted by the exhaust

Go for a 125 if you can afford the extra (and you're over 17). The extra power and cruising speed gives you a lot more road presence and you'll get less intimidation from drivers. I get a lot less grief on my 125 than I did on my 50.

No difference in mpg either. Both gave me 85+mpg.

Edit: and also as above avoid the never-heard-of brands. Stick with Piaggio, Aprilia, Gilera, Peugeot, Yamaha etc

If I had to chose I'd definately go for the 2005 and onwards Aprilia SR50's. Get the fuel injected ones and you're looking at ~100mpg and they can be derestricted and the ECU can be modified to get 55mph (actual speed) out of them whilst keeping ~70 mpg.

Mopeds have ECU's

Yep something else to go wrong...

People seem to think it's the ecu and fuel injection ect ect that makes them fo 55+ mph. They where doing that back in the late 80's early 90's.

I had a suzuki katana, my first road going vehicle and because of the freedom it gave me I loved it! It was a bit slow up the old hills only reaching a terrifying 18mph up steep roads but it was a great little runaround all the same, got me to work and school and gave me some fun at the weekends.

My brother has just puchased a 50cc gilera runner and I have to say i love it, after selling my 600 it was good to get out on 2 wheels again, and this one was good for 35-40 up the same steep hill which I was very suprised at!

Ebay is where we found a better selection of modeds to choose from, local ads and bike shops in the area didnt seem to have much in the way of 2nd hand stuff.
