Yesterday a power line came down over a main road running from Bromsgrove to Redditch.
Now aside from the initial build up and panic at morning rush hour as people scrambled to find alternative routes, once proper road closures were made and streets only opened one way, everything actually became a lot more fluid and efficient than normal.
Ok yes, going the back way adds an extra 1-2 miles to the journey, but as all traffic was flowing in one direction only, basically there were no stoppages or slowdowns, and getting around was actually much more pleasant and quicker.
I wonder, should we look for more large scale one way systems like this?
