More FPS = More GPU Usage ?

So I was just testing out my CPU and GPU usages in Watch Dogs, in which I maxed out the settings and just played around for a while whilst monitoring them.

I get between 30 and 45 FPS whilst driving around the city with my 7970. However I noticed that during this I was only getting about 75% GPU usage.

But then if I looked straight down at the ground, bumping my FPS up to around 70, my GPU usage would then go up to 100%.

Surely I should be getting 100% usage whilst driving around and getting 30fps, no? Why wouldn't my GPU be working as hard when it has more work to do?

During all this my CPU usage on all cores hovered at about 70%, so that wouldn't be interfering with anything.. And I have 8GB RAM so that should be plenty..

the game is broken.
and i honestly blame ppl who buy it, they give a reason to publishers like ubisoft to develope **** and expect us to eat it, why not since they develope **** and ppl actualy eat it.
reasons why watch dogs was hyped
1-graphics, textures, lightings, overall effects, like wind fog, dynamic physx, dynamic reflections, all of this combined made the game attractive, and next gen worthy, the release removed all that.
scenario the world, the IA, the scripts, gave you the feelings that this game would be immersive and intersting, the released removed all that, they added challenges and stupid **** that throw you right off your immersion, the IA is stupid other than being overly agressive.
everyone is free to buy whatever they want, they should also expect the same to happen over and over again, publishers follow the money if you give it to them only when they develope great entertainement they will do so, if you give it to them for **** they will develope more ****.

As you move about etc Vs standing down looking at the ground There is more happening and cpu etc becomes more of a bottleneck which is why your useage drops

Watch_Dogs was written by a junior developer with no eyes and no hands

It sucks balls. I get 50% gpu usage and hit 60fps but only on high! VRAM is the killer. It is terribly optimised

You are very unlikely to bottleneck a single graphics card with any new generation CPU, looking at Sandybridge onwards and the AMD FX range.

This happens due to a bad game as given by Badboy above!! Nothing to do with bottleneck!!

Yep broken game is broken, no bottlenecks just poorly optimised for everyone, plus the game stinks (IMO).

Watch_dogs makes bf4 look like a faultless masterpiece.

I've not had the displeasure of playing Watchdogs and uninstalled BF4 due to it's poor game mechanics.

This doesn't look good for future developers, I hope this doesn't start a snowball effect with other releases :(

Just wait for games by developers who know what they're doing, like valve, CD projekt red etc...even some of the green light developers are very very talented.

Bf4 is in an 'OK' state just now, but I've been on bf3 more lately, the difference is night and day. Where it all went wrong between the two I don't know!

As for watchdogs, imagine playing gta4, lightly modded with single digit frame drops and absolutely nothing to do In the 'open' world.

Depends on the publisher and where you purchased it. I know ea will (or would) refund cost of bf4 if you purchased direct from origin due to the state of the game. I suppose the only way to find out is to get in touch with ubisoft.

I've gone back to BF3 too. With EA giving it out free, loads of servers and lvl 1 players have popped up. Got some wicked K/D ratio last night :D

Feel free to add me, will be on again tonight. Origin ID: snips86x same fir battlelog

question can ppl ask for a refund because of the game technical issues ?

If you are referring to BF4, yes. Speak to a games advisor online from where you bought it.

They could have avoided it entirely. Now they have doubled or even tripled their work load.

Aye same on bf3, went 69-11 on bizzar last night, besides the easy kills though it was so fluid gameplay wise that it makes bf4 feel inferior. Shall add you tonight, work then rebuild my rig and I'll be on :D

Just installed Crysis 3 to test my 2 x 7970's as the usage in BF4 is no where near full chat, the usage in Crysis is in the high 90's most of the time so I can safely say that BF4 is still not optimized for my setup, poor show!

Bf4 depends on map and api used, some maps, shanghai for example can introduce CPU/api based bottlenecks, reducing GPU usage.
