Under the hot sun.
I didn't know that, i just looked at typical reviews. :)

Yeah, look at Hexus reviews on cards like RTX 2080Ti Xtreme. Similarly my GTX1080Ti was like that also. The moment the card went over the "FE" clocks, the power consumption was escalating exponentially.
The 1080Ti Xtreme at full blast at 2000Mhz, with 2050Mhz factory overclock, was over 330W on it's own.

@haszek Looks like unless Nvidia are going full retard and releasing a line up of Mega cards, we will likely see 7nm Nvidia cards before (maybe even way before) Cyberpunk 2077 is released.

Could be that they just release a 2080Ti Super though and just reduce prices in the mean time, but still I am 99% sure 7nm 3000 series will come out before Cyberpunk 2077 :)

The 2080ti good till about 2200mhz and then the power draw goes crazy.

My 2080ti asus strix stock is 280w and goes up to 1900mhz but averages 1840mhz. Overclocked, it draws 325w and goes up to 2150mhz, averaging 2080mhz.
Extra 240mhz core is not bad for just an extra 45w, I can actually add +500mhz to the memory as well keeping the same 325w peak power draw.

This translates into an extra 10 to 15% gaming performance for an extra 17% power.

That's a lot of faith in AMD graphics department to be competitive on a high end :D

And also that's a lot of faith in nVidia that they quit milking, because you know, they want what's best for gamers;)

The way people upgrade from 2000 series cards to 2000 series cards, it may become a reality sooner rather than later. Lol :D

Lol. True.

Though it should be possible with AMD being on 7nm. They only need to squeeze out another 30-40% performance out of Navi.

As much as nvidia love to milk like no other (other than Intel maybe), historically they also like to be ahead and have released new gen of cards not so long after another. The super cards are just buying them some more time, they are not a new gen of cards that are meant to last 12-18 months in my opinion. I will eat my hat if the 3000 series does not come out before Cyberpunk 2077 or at least within a month of it being released.
