More news on PS3

Interesting news about lowering clocks, especially so late in the day, this IS something that is normally settled wayyy before launch.

With the lower clocks and developers aiming at a higher spec we might get similar performance to the Xbox360 in terms of games jerking etc...

Do people actually say things like that :p

You *** sux0r 2 sae *** PS3 is not going to *** r0x0r! Yew lie, yew 360 luvr. U *** sux! U maek thing up, go die!!!1111one!1!!!1 heheheheh

Charlie Demerjian... that's the fool who wrote the article about how the PS3 hardware was totally broken, which was subsequently utterly discredited :) In fact if you look at his articles he has a habit of talking rubbish. It's also amusing for him to criticise the English skills of supposed PS3 fanboys when he has made errors himself in his article.

got a few problems with this.

1 the source website which is owned by ms and seems to have been anti ps3 since the console was anounced

2 where did this idiot get his info ?? as the last time the ps3 was being down spec'd they where re reporting there own news a month apart just to get hits.

as for the ps3 forum mods, they know nothing. there just forum monkeys with no direct contact with sony.

This is a bit interesting but i want to know when this was/is planned.

Listening to the SOE podcast (I listen for EQ2) and it had the lead guy for Untold Legends on the PS3, he said that he got the final revision of the dev kit, 'a month ago' and it was recorded sometime before liepzeg. he also said they had been through 14 revisions in a year lol
He also said that Untold Legends is in final phase so i wouldn't be expecting a delayed launch going from that.

But at the same time its the inquirer lol nuff said

I've read better written articles in The Sun :-/

The Inq really is a joke.

10% hit on GPU + Video RAM is a fair bit if true though.

At the end of the day, this is going to do sod all to the PS3, so what, a couple of numbers have changed, it'll probably make it a lot more stable and a lot more reliable if it is true. It may cause 1 or 2 fps difference overall maybe, and the general public are really really not going to care about it, only the hardcore anal people that want every last mhz out of their systems will really care. It's still going to be an awesome piece of kit overall.

:p Love the way fanboys justify things.

If I am correct in saying he owns a 360.

I am in the same opinion as him, the PS3 will be a good console, maybe not the same market dominance as the PS2 but a good console.

I own a 360, N64 and Megadrive.

Not really a Sony fanboy. Its not PC architecture so if true it may not make that big a difference. Graphics mean absolutely nothing to me, its all about the gameplay which most people with consoles seem to forget.

Agreed.

I want sony to do "well" but not "win easily" ideally, I would like all 3 to be roughly even in terms of sales.

I want sony to be forced to think of new ideas for the PS4, rather than copy so many ideas from Nintendo and MS, but I do agree the console will be good. And there are games I want for it.

GT5, DMC, FF, plus probablly soul calibur, Virtua figher and a few others. Most of the games are next year, so I will probablly buy the PS3 then.

*EDIT*

In case anyone wonders,

I have owned consoles since the Atari 2600, and do have a console from all 3 companies, a cube, an xbox 1 and a 360 and a PS1 and PS2.

If anything, I'm a 360 fan, but that's because none of the others are out there, and I certainly am not a PS3 fanboy, in fact I find it a little insulting. Anybody in their right mind can't deny that the PS3 is probably going to be an amazing system, it'll be on par with the 360 at least technically, and potentially can be a lot better in theory. Just have to wait to see what the games will be like on it, as poor games, support and services could kill it.

IIRC something similar happened to the PS2, just prior to launch (possibly not this close)

I think the PS2 did alright.
Never heard of it...

:p

I think the PSP also was cut down a little or something like that, can't remember the specifics though.
