Have a p5n32-e sli board, new one just returned from RMA, well I suspect it's not 'new' but thats another story.

Only managed to get it to post a total of 5 times, twice booted into windows, most of the time post will not complete. Power but no beeps.

I suspected it was the ram but ram checks out on another machine and other ram gives same problem. If I remove the ram then I get 1 long beep and 2 short.... a video adapter problem, however I get no errors when ram is present. Removing the video card leads to no beep codes as well.

Any ideas before I rma the board/video card again?

what ram is it and is it running with right volts and timing ?

It would be if it would post.....

Crucial Ballistix 6400C4 - was running at correct voltage but didn't solve problem.

Corsair value ram.

The ram is not the issue I thing because 99% of the time I can't even get into the bios setup page.

maybe try just 1 stick of ram, and try it in a few different slots if it won't post. get into the bios and ensure your timings and volts are correct, a lot of boards seem to default to c.1.8v - bump it and see how you get on.
you may also want to update the bios to a more recent version.

hth.

:)

you might also try stripping the components to the bare minimum - single hard-drive and video should do it.

I can't get into the bios....

Have stripped it all and tried with just cpu and video card, i get bios beeps telling me the video adapter is faulty. When i put ram in, any ram, in any slot, i get no beeps and the bios does not post.

I'm going to go out on a limb and send the video card back for testing. I know the ram is good and I'm guessing the board is good. It's either the MB of gfx card.....

I'm reading on the web that for p5n boards 1 long 2 short means ram problems....

I'm stumped. I know the ram works. Maybe I should send the card and the board back.....

I had something similar with a gigabyte board last year, the prevailing wisdom was to boot with "generic" ram and boost the voltage. I went for an AW9D-MAX instead, so I feel your pain.
that said, could honestly be anything, rma and best of luck mate.

Well I had a bit of luck in that I was able to lay my hands on another gfx card and other bits so I could fully test the motherboard. With all other components verifiably working it still wouldn't post so the motherboard is going back again :(
