More than One hard drive

Hey,

I am wanting to have more than one hard drive in my system, preferably I would like the second of third just to be a data drive. Does this require an OS system to be installed on it as well or can I simply as soon as I buy it install it as a secondry drive and transfer all data files over to it?

buy it, plug it in correctly, format it from in disk maangement and then transfer files over

Thanks! When you mention formatting it from the disk management, where abouts is that?

Right click on (My) Computer and pick Manage. Disk Management can be selected from the left hand list.

No need to worry about that if you're running SATA

If you just want a clean partition with nothing fancy you may aswell just right click on the unformated harddrive in my computer and hit format. Don't think it would be any different to a plain single partition done in drive management.

If the drive is brand new it won't appear in My Computer. It will need partitioned and formatted in Disk Management first.
