Morons reducing speed limits

smithy. On my way home from london today, i nearly hit a person walking ****** on the A13. Was that my fault or his?

i was in the center part of that bridge. ie no where to swerve too either, as it has crash barriers each side of the lane. I didn't hit him, but to be honest i hope someone else does, taking a stroll down a Major A road is utterly stupid, its not even a road with paths, its like a motorway in nature.... But i guess us drivers should slow down instead?

Could be worse, I was filling up at Hilton Park services on the M6 one night when a bunch of chavvy looking types staggered in from the exit sliproad back onto the motorway.

I went into pay at about the same time they did, some of them were trying to buy beer (and giving the poor garage attendant abuse because he didn't have any to sell) and one of them asked me for directions to the Arboretum. I'm guessing they got lost on their way into or out of Walsall.

Should we lower the M6 to 20mph within a 20 mile radius of Walsall in case this happens again?

Edit: In before "M6 never goes above 20mph anyway". It does at that time of night!

Police are checking dental records in an attempt to formally identify six people who were killed in a collision between two cars in Nottinghamshire.
...
Some locals have described the 60mph [A614 near Bilsthorpe] as an accident blackspot.
...
A police spokesman said the spot where the cars collided was well lit and neither ice nor rain were factors in the cause of the accident.

I have no doubt that this will be one of the many accidents that will end up being described as down to the driver "losing control of the vehicle" rather than breaking the speed limit or the speed limit being to high.

My understanding is that it was a head-on? If so, I'll guess one or other of the drivers was overtaking when it wasn't safe to do so.
