Morrisons Launch UK’s Hottest Ever Curry

Supermarket curries are alright. Not as tasty, but certainly comparable with cheap takeaway curries, I'd say.

Much better, relative to the real thing, than the vast majority or other ready meals.

It’s completely beyond me why anybody who likes curry would buy a ready made supermarket one.
Really. Do you always make your own bread as well?
Convenience, this curry for one, not worth making it myself if i make a curry i make a huge amount so it has to be to everyones taste.

Supermarket naan bread is awful but I think curries are one of the things that translate better to ready meals than a lot of other things. Some I've had, particularly the Authentic Welsh curries, have been not bad at all.

But is it beyond you as to why people buy ready made food from a supermarket?

Same thing but a niche they think is worth filling.

I agree, but I also think curry is a bit of a speciality food and for a decent one a supermarket’s own will not cut it. It is not that hard to make a very good one using simple ingredients. Convenience being the word here though and catering for a niche as you say.

Actually yes, I do make my bread. Albeit using a breadmaker but if I can’t be bothered with that or I don’t have time I’ll go to our local independent bakery.
What would you expect from this curry? Loads of flavour or just a bland sauce with plenty of heat?

 I think ready meal curries are pathetic, watery, lack depth, lack favour.
But so do most read meals. Lasgna and anything meat and tomatoes based are usually overly Herby to his the no flavour.
Pie and ready made mash is the best ready meal.
The noodle type ones (Korean/thai) are just about acceptable although nothing like the dishes they are supposed to be.

I would expect a £1.50 curry, nothing more.

I most of the time think this as well, you have to expect this coming from a packet etc. I have come across some nice ones though. Sainsburys do tinned Chicken Jalfrezi's which are actually very nice, lots of flavour and ingredients.

Morrisons actually do a Garlic and Coriander naan which is excellent. It's huge , similar to takeaway versions and tastes similar. Not like the usual naan/pitta bread looking things.

EDIT - Never read the above post!

hmmmm. Might have to give this a go.

I LOVE hot food, but unfortunately, the consequences I face the day after eating such food has rather put me off TBH :(

Reminds me of when Pizza hut did the hot sauce warnings last year, and all they did was put something akin to Blairs mega death sauce all over it to make it too hot for most people.

Had one for lunch today, certainly hot but not insanely hot.

Seems a bit OOT though as it wasn't really tasty just more 'hot for the sake of it'

None in the 2 I checked (not even stickered).

I also tried the Encona Carolina Reaper hot sauce... or more like not sauce, as in not hot at all :p
