I have accident, sickness and unemployment insurance on my mortgage.

I'm trying to claim off it for an accident I had which wasn't my fault however for one reason or another they refuse to pay out. Essentially I am paying £25 a month for nothing and I have been for 5 years.

Is it worth having at all and can I claim it back under the PPI thingy?

Technically it is useful - but they refuse to pay anyway so it is pointless. I'll be cancelling it this week.

As above you can only potentially claim back if you were not given the option of not having it.

Unemployment potentially worth it I think there are too many ways out of the others for them to be worth it.

It is not included in the mortgage but it was done by someone who was a mate at the time.... think i'll just cancel it as it's pointless.

I am not quite sure why you needed to mention it wasn't your fault. For the Accident section of these policies if something is an accident it shouldn't matter whose fault it is. It may however require that there is some change in your income for it to kick in though (e.g. you had to be off work for a period of time).

If you are looking to claim for compensation for discomfort etc following an accident which was someone else's fault then you should claim off the third party insurance of the negligent party.

This - it may be that they aren't paying out because you should be claiming from the 3rd party - I'm sure there will be a clause in there somewhere that says something along the lines of them not paying if someone else is liable.

Until the claim is sorted I have no money coming in and it could be months?

I still have a mortgage to pay in the mean time. The insurers pushed me to have a word with my mortgage company....

Essentially have I wasted £1500 if it won't protect me?

Is this that insurance where if you're out of work they pay the mortgage for you?
Barclays offerred it for a while and I was annoyed I missed it, but if they aint paying out whats the point :/

Mind telling us what the accident was and what grounds theyre refusing to pay out?

Because I still have back pain but I'm doing something to improve my life which cost me £4k to do otherwise I would have lost it as I had paid for it and arranged it all a couple of weeks before it. Because I try to do that in pain they say it is the equivalent to being at work so why cannot I work in pain. But due to the back pain I am signed off as I cannot sit down for long and have to constantly get up or adjust due to pain. Nobody will employ somebody in pain already as I could be off sick at any time! Damned if you do, damned if you don't. I'm always honest to whatever they ask but it counts against me.
