Mosfets Questions

Low quality mosfets will blow when subjected to a heavy load. They may also die if they have poor cooling. In addition, the original Phenoms have been known to brick boards because they draw so much juice.
 
Overclocking could cause more stress on the MOSFETs that could lead to them catching fire or melting if they are not cooled.

Good motherboards should have cooled MOSFETs and they should have a higher rating but this isn't always the case...

I notice you have a watercooled rig, this may mean you have less airflow around your mosfets... It wasn't an Asus motherboard was it?
 
When running IBT/Prime95 my mosfets squeal and get really hot even though watercooled. So as Mike said, if you're watercooling the CPU but not the mosfets then there is less airflow, this is also made worse by the fact you are overclocking a quadcore which stresses it a lot.
 
Mosfets were cooled with the supplied asus fan, i was overclocking, but i had been running prime95 for an hour with stable results, booted down and went into the bios. As i got into the second screen thats when it happened.
