Following on from the Most Expensive Part Replaced Thread, what's the best bargain you've ever had for your motor (not including replacements under warranty, that's just cheating).

Mine has arrived today;

My nearside front wheel has a nasty curb mark on it from the previous owner so whilst enjoying some time off this week and perusing ebay, I saw the above & thought I'd have a flutter.

The price? £20.50 including delivery :eek: :D

Just need to wear these damn tyres down so I can get it fitted :)

when i bought the car the pin that held the fuel cap in was snapped, used to really bug me.

Price £0 from scrappy

edit: plaes in comparison to above 99p abs unit :(

Hmm, brand new T3 turbo for £60 delivered. Brand new T3 turbo for £80 delivered - both the proper ones for the car (external wastegate).
Brand new waterpump for £6. Not just any waterpump but a Saab B engine waterpump. Makes unobtanium look common! I could get £100 for it without blinking.
Brand new jackshaft for same engine for $80. See above about rare and multiply some! I could get £300 for it without blinking.

Well, more of an assembly of parts :D

Cost = 0 :)

6 months MOT to boot!

Sold it now, it gets picked up on Saturday. Bye bye trusty little motor :(

Well if you're going to do whole assemblies...

Cost to obtain: £0 Cost to get on the road: £Don't ask! Rarity - about 20 left on the road.

Won a gearbox on eBay for 99p. Went to pick it up and the seller had broken a whole car, he'd sold everything he expected to sell and just wanted to clear space for his next one so said I could take whatever else I wanted.

Ended up with the gearbox, driveshafts, ECU, bootlid, pair of pop-up headlight assemblies and a few other odds and ends. Could have taken more if I'd known and gone in something more designed for load lugging than an MR2. I couldn't bring myself to only hand over 99p for that lot so gave him a fiver :p

Not me myself but my parents, and not technically a part, but their extended warranty on our old 850. came in very useful when the engine blew up 2months after it being 3 years old.

Brand new genuine Renault front subframe for my project 19 16v, cost to buy from Ren, 350ish... got mine off a popular auction site for 25 quid, bargain.

Brand new genuine Ren windscreen for the same car, 25 quid... another auction bargain.

I wub 'popular auction site' + owners club forum dibsing agreements :)
