Most common video codecs?

I have only installed:

FFDShow (an excellent set of codecs)
Quicktime alt
Realplayer alt

Since installing these I have never had any problems/conflictions. :)

i'm not a fan of VLC, its good for linux or mac (because i really don't know what i'm doing on those os's!)

media player classic is by far my favourite video player, if you press..

ctrl + 0, ctrl + 5, ctrl + 3 it looks really sharp without the extra buttons and things, and is nice and compact, ctrl + t keeps it on top, and ctrl + 7 opens a playlist

it has native dvd support too (i know vlc has this also..)

my 2 cents!

Does WMP Classic let you choose audio streams?

I have some videos with both a German & English audio track. I couldn't figure out a way of changing it from the German default.

And there's been no legal actions because? Ah, that's right, because it's legal.
Can you show me the license agreement for the Cyberlink MPEG-2 decoder (one of at least 3) in the K-Lite pack please.

All you need to play almost any media format through mediaplayer classic or \ WMPis: (I use this too and have absolutely no issues at all)

They are all free too..

- Real Alternative
- Quicktime Alternative
- DiVX (also decodes other mpeg4 formats like xvid and does a better job)
- WinDVD TRIAL (install it and leave it alone, MPC will use the DVD decoder for audio/video instead)
- VobSUB (to decode subtitles in certain movies and videos, it auto loads in MPC so no worries there)
- Matroska Lite (adds support to MPC for matroska format files like MKV and other subtitles that vobsub cannot handle)
- Mediaplayer Classic 6.4.9.0 or better (get it standalone if you don't wnat to install the built in one that ships with real/quicktime alt)

These all work seamlessly and do not run in the background so it's all fast.

Good to see many have converted to Classic Media Player :)

I use to be a fan of Zoomplayer, but then just had issues and bumped into the simple/fast Classic media player, still better then VLC player but I keep both that way can play back any format literally.
