Most Epic RTS game - SupCom?

I am by no means an avid gamer, but I fancy some RTS epicness. I used to love Supreme Commander and after a bit of modding (flying engineers like in TA) it really did become great with potential for epic epic scale.

Has SC been overtaken by any games? Is there a fix for the crap AI and the AI slowdown bug yet?

I'm searching the 'net but I'm sure a few guys here have a hold on all of this

Sorian has made AI packs that are very good.

and the slow down "bug" fix is more ram and a better cpu.

Hmm that name rings a bell; I think they existed when I was playing, but they weren't Amazing IIRC. I'll have a check how they've been upgraded since.

I've been getting back in to CoH (plus expansion packs) and love it! Haven't even touched the campaign yet, just doing skirmishes.

Game still looks superb!

The thing that killed supcom for me was the lack of community in non ranked games. Was never particularly interested in the 1v1s as to me supcom is designed for 3v3 or 4v4. Problem was that most people didn't have a pc that could run it so the non 1v1 side died out.

Sup Com is still the #1 Strat game for me, I've seen some intense moves pulled online, huge bluffs and sophisticated surprise attacks, not all just tech spamming but some real brains.

Loved SupCom 2 i never played the first one tho. Also from what i have seen of SC2 it looks amazing im yet to get it tho :/

Truth. Bored Alliance as I call it just blew away my previous best RTS's (AoE2/AoE3). I hate futuristic stuff but once you play FA it's hard to try another RTS really.

Me and my mates used to have the slowdown. However with our i7 rigs with silly amounts of RAM, that no longer happens.

Company of Heroes is my favourite RTS. The gold edition with the two expansion packs can be had pretty cheap nowadays too.
I'm also a fan of Total War games but the last awesome one was Medieval Total War. Shogun 2 is pretty good too.
I was never a fan of Supcom.

Sup com was epic, FA built on the epic-winningness, and then SupCom2 was rubbish. I personally love the first and FA tho, still play them quite a lot.

To the people bashing Sup com 2, it was crap at release but its been heavily patched into a very good game now and far more true to the first one. Well worth another look if you bought it at release!

SC2 is really good single player, and the multi is good too. Im not that into it as some are as most multiplayer games i have tried on it i tent to get wasted very early on by rushes so lost interest in it in that respect but yeah single player is very good

A good tool to help supcom is to use a program called Core Maximiser

seems to help in the large scale battles and if you play AI use the Sorian one as the defaut is both thick and a rescource hog : :cool:

As I have posted in older SupCom threads, this game has a collection of really awesome mods which makes the game EPIC!!!
Total Veterancy mod puts unlimited veterancy status on your units, brilliant if you protect your T3 units, so they become lethal killing machines over time.
There is a rpg mod that increases the number of Commander upgrades, so that it either benefits economy, building speed or Supreme Commander Killer!!! It is compatible with the Support Commanders too.
Along with additional units & AI mods and large scale maps, i don't think any other rts beats the game.
Could do with a DOTSA mod tho....
