Getting a complete system upgrade this weekend, just curious as to what you guys would say are the 5 most demanding games out at the moment. I could do endless benchmarks on 3dmark and so on, but want to do some real game tests and see how well everything runs.

Games that immediately spring to mind are crysis of course, far cry 2, gta 4...but please let me know what recent games hammer the hell out of your systems :D

EDIT: I know i made a typo in the title, damn lack of a title edit function :)

Crysis, Far Cry 2 basically. They're not really making mega-powerful engines anymore which is a shame.

crysis will eat your gpu! gta4 will eat your cpu! and far cry will eat your wallet as it is a waste of money! :D

Here's my 5:

GTA4
Crysis
Crysis Warhead
Far Cry 2
Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

GTA4 is definitely the most demanding as it runs slowly in places even on min settings for me. Seems to really need more than 2 cpu cores.

I wouldn't say the HL2 cinematic mod is overly demanding, it's playable on max settings on my system. STALKER is also ok since I got a GTX280.

Stalker isn't particularly juicy, and by now (as I know) the patches have made a big difference. Great game, one of my all time favourites.
Devil may cry 4 (apparently) is very gpu intensive but I haven't played it. Obviously Crysis is demanding, Clear Sky can be with all the eye candy on and with dx10.

I'd disagree. Try maxing out ClearSky and just compare the levels of detail to most other games - theres probably 2-3x as much geometry to be seen.

Both Stalker SOC and Clear Sky were well buggy on release but I do agree that, in particular, Clear Sky does have great visuals at times and I believe they are a fair improvement from the first game.
