Hi all,

I'm looking for the most powerful graphics card currently available which draws all its power from the PCIe slot. I'm installing it in an old Dell desktop which has a crappy PSU without extra power available.

Any suggestions peeps?

Do keep in mind that although 1050ti is the fastest bus-powered card, performance wise it is pretty poor bang for bucks; the similar priced RX570 is around 50% faster.

If you care more about getting more performance for this PC, spending extra £40 for a new semi-decent 450-500W PSU could open you up to more options.

GTX 1050ti is the best AFAIK.

GTX970 which is faster than 1050Ti by 50%
Otherwise consider RX570 and spend £50 on a PSU also. Is almost double the perf over the 1050Ti.

PSU connections may be proprietary so upgraded PSU may not be an easy option. Similar to my HP Deskpro for running Zwift. Plenty good enough for that though.

Yeah, had to buy an adapter to upgrade the PSU on the dell at work so be check first with that route.

He asked a question, I answered it. Why doesn’t he just buy a GTX2080ti and a 750W gold PSU? The 970 requires external power connectors which is completely contradictory to what he asked.
