i've done 5 clean installs (not even image restores but manual installs  ) since last night. can anyone beat that? :p

(i've been having a few issues getting a new GFX card to work in windows 7 so have been installing various versions of windows just to rule out a problem with the hardware)

Re-installs on the same machine, about 3-4. Blaster worm.

Doesn't bother me these days as I've done it that many times it's just click/click/go for a brew/click/type/click. If you make yourself an automated CD it's even easier.

Most I can recall is 6. 5 ways how not to correctly set up a domain controler with one sucess. Did 3 the other day trying to give everyone what they wanted but all I got was complaints so they got the middle finger and I went from Server 2008 R2 > Windows 7 Ultimate > Vista. Would stick with Windows 7 IF Netgear would make a bleeding driver for the WG311 that works with Windows 7.

About five times (it may have been more) when the beta version of the Fiji update for Vista Media Center was originally leaked.

It all kept going pear-shaped for a number of reasons, the majority of which escape me now, and the benefits weren't even really worth it in the end...

2 ... weekend before last, failing hard disk which wasn't immediately apparent as the cause of the observed issues ...

Looked like a windows update had corrupted itself at first so ended up reinstalling ... but the system was still really flaky after the install and further investigation showed read errors on the disk. Replaced the disk and installed again and all was fine .... fortunately any data is held on various other kit on the network ...

I work in a workshop that sells equipment for disabled people (even myself lol). Today, I did a clean-install on 3 customer machines which is higher than average for a day. It's usually people who have mullered their machine with a virus because they've installed Limewire and/or Incredimail :-/

I think it was at least 4 or 5 on my own PC. Stupid XP Media Centre Edition! No idea why, but a combination of drivers and software consistently rendered the Media Centre useless. Eventually, after doing NOTHING different, it all worked smoothly :D.

On my netbook... 6. Various different installs of various different OSs.

make that 7 now. :D

but i made a backup of the 6th install just incase the 7th didn't work out. that proved to be the case so back we go. that's assuming windows backup / restore works ok. i've never used it until now. :p

i just can't get my nvidia card working in 7 no matter what i try. it works fine in vista, xp and even 2008 R2 - so i'm going back to that. it's still got all the windows 7 eye candy when you enable the desktop experience.

Used this earlier on my flatmates PC and it worked a charm.

Tried that fix myself. I must have screwed up the process or it doesn't work in a multi-boot environment because it created a 3rd boot item called ReadyDriver. It ighlighted it on boot, booted then displayed the same screen again, the curser cycled through the boot options by its self then stopped on ReadyDriver again and locked up. Tempted to try again but I am eally not in the mood for more PC hell.
