Hi guys, my father in law still has XP on his PC, I was explaining he is at risk when going online with it. I want to put Linux on it for him to make it safer, but he is not very good with computers. What would be the best version of Linux for him, so it isnt a huge shock going from XP?

Thanks in advance :)

Great, thank you :) looks good. Is it secure?

Nothing is 100% secure. Like Windows, Linux distributions be kept up to date. Your father will be much safer using Linux as there isn't a lot of malware aimed at the Linux desktop userbase.

I would have gone for Lubuntu for an old XP setup.
Also, if you password protect and encrypt the home folder, it is infinitely more secure than windows, that's for damn sure.

XP maybe, but current versions of Windows are as secure as you get in such a dynamic environment.

I'd also keep to an Ubuntu related distro for user friendliness.

I have just downloaded Zorin OS and am running it at moment from the DVD - Now if I install it does it give me the option of which HD and partition to install it to - I want to put it on the second hard drive in partition H, - I do not want it on C drive SSD.

Dave

Opps - massive spelling mistake.- was past my bedtime though
