MOT

if it's just a reminder sticker then it's rubbish sticking it on the windscreen as it will sit on the passenger side and in a year you are so used to it that you never ever look at it.
thanks guys for clarifying this up for me. I can tell my old man to move on with the times now :-p

I put it on the sun visor - it's in a handy place if I want to remember the date. Occasionally remind myself when it's sunny too :)

The MOT reminder sticker, what a great invention.

Every man and his mother put the damn thing on the windscreen, meaning that within 3 months the sun has bleached out the printed ink and it can't be read any more.

The last place I had my car MOT'd at put a plastic tag on my keyring with the cars VRN and next MOT due date - very handy indeed!

In fairness to Kenai, how many people take time to read everything on a green MOT cert?

If you are like me and tend to forget about your MOT untill a few days before, best to put some sort of reminder somewhere. A sticker on the windscreen that will fade and be unreadable in a few months isn't the best solution though :)

Well from what I can work out the new MOTs don't have this. Last MOT cert I had said it was a receipt for mot that is now electronic. And it was printed on plain white paper. So hard to tell if it had failed, I like the old coloured ones better, if it was green good to go, red oh no and amber was well i'll look at them soon.

You dont get one anymore so it cant be a law. Infact the new certificate is a plain piece of A4 paper with black print on..

You don't get one now, I got my car mot yesterday and they have changed the certificate style it's just a single white printed sheet. No protection that I could see against forgery like past certificates.

Edit - beaten to it as above

What are used car dealers doing now about the advisories on the new style MOT receipts?

On the old computerised certificates they used to always lose the attached advisory sheet. Now they can't do that.
